Today, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is organizing "DESIGNATED CONSUMER'S INTEGRATED CONSULTATION" at Chinggis Hotel. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an information for the consumers about energy efficiency policies, the legal environment, law enforcement, and the current state of the energy sector, introducing technology, best practices, and projects, exchanging information, and improving cooperation.
The event was opened by the Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission A.Tleikhan. In his speech "The Energy Regulatory Commission organizes this meeting as a tradition every year, and I would like to thank all of you for attending today's event. Since the adoption of the Energy Conservation and Efficiency Law, there has been a comprehensive legal, and regulatory environment for energy conservation, energy efficiency at all levels of energy production, transmission, distribution and consumption, and a common understanding of energy conservation policy. In the past, we have worked with 151 energy conservation managers, 82 energy auditors, and 10 accredited energy organizations, and 70 percent of our designated consumers have been completed energy audit and have achieved certain results. In the future, it is important to implement energy saving measures in a sustainable and integrated manner and create real energy savings. Starting this year, the Energy Regulatory Commission will review the implementation of the law and the results achieved by consumers, and will be happy to support and cooperate with consumers in their efforts. However, I would like to emphasize that we will hold companies accountable for non-compliance with the law and regulations".
There are total of 229 designated consumer's representivities registered by the Energy Regulatory Commission in 2016-2019 attended in this event. There are also exhibidition about energy savings, and discussed based on Energy Conservation Law, its regulations. At this event, "Chinggis Hotel", "Achit Ikht LLC" and "143rd School" shared their best practices in energy saving. About 53 percent of Mongolia's total energy consumption is used by more than 200 large companies. According to the Energy Conservation Law, these companies are obliged to save energy. If these companies able to save energy and implement their plans, they can save more than 100 billion MNT a year in electricity.
